Competition Structure

Stage 1: Competitors will complete either a short online application form or complete a paper form and submit via a participating UK automotive glazing distribution centre. All application forms will be considered by a committee of technical experts. The deadline date for applications is Thursday 15th March 2012 2012.

Stage 2: Successful applicants from Stage 1 will be required to undertake a more detailed telephone interview. This will be conducted by experts and will explore the applicant’s employment and training experience and give them the opportunity to explain why they think they have the required skills and competence to progress further in the competition. Competitors will also be required to provide evidence of their qualifications and work experience and to get written commitment from their current employer that they are supportive of the individual’s participation in the competition.

Stage 3: Live heats. 7 separate competition heats will take place across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales between May and July 2012. A list of heat venues and dates is available on this website. In each of the regional heats, competitors will undertake a series of practical tests which will test both their skills and abilities and their knowledge and understanding of the automotive glazing industry.

Stage 4: The 6 highest scoring competitors from across all of the regional heats will progress to the next stage and will compete in the live UK final. This will be a full day event and is scheduled to be held in during Autumn 2012(venue still to be confirmed). Following the final event, there will be an awards ceremony and dinner where the UK winner will be announced. All finalists will receive a monetary prize and trophy.
